Welcome to our private family home, where our resident black Labrador is always on hand to welcome our guests.
Days are naturally shaped around the dogs, from countryside walks through farmland, streams and woodland to time in the garden, enrichment, play and plenty of opportunity to simply relax.
After a walk, there are cosy robes, comfortable places to settle and all the familiar comforts of home. As the afternoon winds down, we take a final walk before supper, followed by a relaxed family evening.
It is an unhurried way of staying, where dogs can settle into the rhythm of the household and simply enjoy being here.
Our Story

The Dogs Residence is a fully insured, licensed home boarding and day care business, based within our family home in Loudwater.
Founded with a genuine love of dogs and a belief that boarding should feel personal, we have created a calm, welcoming environment where our guests become part of family life. Our resident black Labrador, is very much at the heart of the household, alongside our two older children.
Licensed by Three Rivers District Council, we are proud to have achieved a multi-star rating in our inaugural year.
Our home continues to evolve, but our ethos remains simple: to provide an exceptional standard of care in an environment where dogs feel comfortable, secure and genuinely at ease.
About
Hello. My name is Anna-Marie
The Dogs Residence began with a simple idea: to create the kind of place I would want for my own dog, personal, attentive and genuinely part of a home.
What started as a love of dogs has developed into a carefully considered approach to their care, with every stay shaped around the individual dog and the trust placed in us by their owner.
I have undertaken professional training in Canine First Aid, Canine CPR, Nutrition and Canine Welfare, including an OFQUAL Level 3 Award in Professional Canine Welfare. I am also qualified in Senior Canine Massage and Heat Therapy, and continue to develop my knowledge as the business evolves.
But qualifications are only part of what matters. For me, good care is in the observation, the consistency and the small details, knowing a dog's usual routine, noticing when something is different, and making sure they are comfortable, settled and well cared for throughout their stay.
It is a privilege to welcome dogs into our home, and I never take the trust involved in doing so for granted.
Why did we open The Dogs Residence
The idea for The Dogs Residence came from our own experience as dog owners.
When our own dog’s allergies made finding suitable care particularly difficult, we began to ask why there wasn’t somewhere that offered the reassurance of a private home, alongside the level of care and attention we wanted for our own dog.
So we created it, a private, personal environment where dogs’ individual routines are respected and owners can have complete confidence in their care.
What began as a solution for our own dog has grown into something we are incredibly proud to share with other families.
